Plantation Capital Plc. is an appointed representative of Porta Verde Financial Services Ltd. which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Firm Reference Number 540921.

Plantation Capital Plc is offering clients the opportunity to invest in a series of boutique private equity opportunities, which are focused on acquiring and managing established forestry holdings in Asia and Africa.

The first Africasia Sustainable Forestry Fund is a closed-ended investment sub-fund of The Emerging Managers Fund, and seeks to invest in existing managed plantations within Thailand and Malaysia. The fund invites investors to participate in a forestry fund where the standing timber asset is valued at the outset. This approach yields two benefits. First, the initial capital is protected and second, because of the proximity to the final harvests, timber assets are expected to provide on-going income during the life cycle of the fund annually from year 2 onwards for 8 years.

Investing in established plantations creates an obvious commercial opportunity, as does the purchase of timber assets at a substantial discount to future harvest values. The advantage for plantation operators is that capital is released and so new plantations can be established and sustainable crops planted to meet future demand.

The Fund will focus on existing Teak and Agarwood plantations, managed by industry leading professionals, and located in established and relatively stable regions. The objective is to realise substantial profits from the harvest and sale of timber and its by-products whilst also helping to reduce the demand for illegally logged timber products. After the final harvest of all forestry assets within the fund, the sustainable plantation cycle will begin again under the continued management of the plantation operators.
